Melvin Krimski’s life story unfolds as he shares his experiences with his sponsor in recovery, Matthew. Currently residing in a step-down program in West Palm Beach, Florida, Melvin takes us back to his early childhood days during the 1980s and describes what it was like growing up in the backwoods of Tennessee on the largest hippy commune in the United States. However, 1983 marked a significant turn in Melvin’s life when he relocated to the Stephen Foster Neighborhood in the University town of Gainesville, Florida. Unfortunately, he started down a destructive path awash with drugs and alcohol. This led to a progressive illness that lasted nearly 22 years. Now, Melvin describes his incredible journey from addiction to recovery with Matthew. Through recounting his past, Melvin reckons with his demons and contemplates whether he’s strong enough to get sober for good in a world that never stops challenging his resolve.
